Global Predicate Detection under Fine-Grained Modalities

چکیده
Predicate detection is an important problem in distributed systems. Based on the temporal interactions of intervals, there exists a rich class of modalities under which global predicates can be specified. For a conjunctive predicate φ, we show how to detect the traditional Possibly(φ) and Definitely(φ) modalities along with the added information of the exact interaction type between each pair of intervals (one interval at each process). The polynomial time, space, and message complexities of the proposed on-line detection algorithms to detect Possibly and Definitely in terms of the fine-grained interaction types per pair of processes, are the same as those of the earlier on-line algorithms that can detect only whether the Possibly and Definitely modalities hold.

Fine Grained Register Allocation for EPIC Processors With Predication
In this paper, we study the impact of liveness granularity, the priority function and accurate interference graph construction on register allocation performance on EPIC processors with predication. Fine grained live ranges reduce the number of interferences and hence allow both faster compilation and runtime execution. Similarly, a predicate-aware priority function gives a better register allo...
متن کاملLinking Flat Predicate Argument Structures
This report presents an approach to enriching flat and robust predicate argument structures with more fine-grained semantic information, extracted from underspecified semantic representations and encoded in Minimal Recursion Semantics (MRS). Such representations are provided by a hand-built HPSG grammar with a wide linguistic coverage. A specific semantic representation, called linked predicate...
متن کاملDetecting Temporal Logic Predicates on the Happened-Before Model
Detection of a global predicate is a fundamental problem in distributed computing. In this paper we describe new predicate detection algorithms for certain temporal logic predicates. We use a temporal logic, CTL, for specifying properties of a distributed computation and interpret it on a finite lattice of global states. We present solutions to the predicate detection of linear and observer-ind...
متن کاملA Higher-order Fine-grained Logic for Intensional Semantics
This paper describes a higher-order logic with fine-grained intensionality (FIL). Unlike traditional Montogovian type theory, intensionality is treated as basic, rather than derived through possible worlds. This allows for fine-grained intensionality without impossible worlds. Possible worlds and modalities are defined algebraically. The proof theory for FIL is given as a set of tableau rules, ...
متن کاملOn the designing of two grains levels network intrusion detection system
Despite the rapid progress of the information technology, protecting computers and networks remain a major problem for most authors. In this paper, two grains levels intrusion detection system (IDS) is suggested (fine-grained and coarse-grained). In normal case, where intrusions are not detected, the most suitable IDS level is the coarse-grained to increase IDS performance. As soon as any intru...
